On Sunday 19th March 2023 Charles & Ron launched their new Fall/Winter 2023/24 collection during Los Angeles Fashion Week. The show was part of Art Hearts Fashion Week held at The Majestic Downtown LA.The inspiration point for this collection started from the single most defining feature of the Maltese Islands’ landscape; Limestone. From the oldest free-standing temples, fortifications, churches to our rocky shores, Maltese limestone gives the country its unique Golden hue. The islands’ history is literally carved in stone.
Charles & Ron: “ We used the Limestone colour as the starting point for the collection and then further developed a colour palette inspired by Maltese landscape images during fall/winter season. The light coming from the sun at that time of the year creates the most beautiful sunsets which are an amazing spectacle for the eye”. The inspiration story resulted in a colour palette consisting of; Stone Beige, Violet , Indigo, Sky Blue, Midnight Blue, Lavender Mist, Plum, Blush and Lilac, which is steadily becoming a Charles & Ron signature colour.
Stone colored puffer jackets are executed in exaggerated shapes and mimic stone sculpture details and wall construction patterns. Just like stone walls protecting the wearer from the elements. The Eye of Horus is featured in 3D stitching detail on jackets and also introduced on the new hand-crafted Leather handbag styles. The graphic prints are in house designed, and feature a cloudy blue sky just before sunset and Limestone details of intricate sculptures and facades. This season version of the logo print includes the Dove symbolizing peace and is placed over a background of a sunset sky. Malta’s landscapes at sunset feature on new knitwear styles made in a mix of Wool and Alpaca, and also on an intricate hand-beaded Tulle gown. The collection further includes fabrics like; Faux Fur, Silk, Metallic Jacquard, Velvet, Organza and hand-stitched Tulle with multiple layers of frills.
